well I am glad that worked, it might have taken a bit of explaining to colleagues why I was looking at those photos! ;o)

trying again to imbed a photo in my blog, after some help from our resident SLNSW 2.0 gurus I am hoping this works!

This time I typed my user name 'blonde nomad' into the search function of Flickr, to see what would come up.... alarmingly the first 20 or so pics were rather risque!! Lots of pics of blonde 'emo' girls wearing too much vinyl and showing too much cleavage for my liking! I was kind of expecting to find some arty photos of albino nomadic peoples.....!

anyway, this was the most 'appropriate' of the lot.... ! if this works, its onto Wikis!!! (fingers crossed!)

drat...

damn it I cant figure out how to imbed the photo.... I have been to the icon 'Add image' in the create posts area and go through the steps to select the location, press upload image (which it says it has done) but then when I publish the post the image is just blank....
any clues folks??

this is a test to see if I can imbed a photo..... but what I need to do is add some text to this post to see how it ends up wrapping around an image.....

bla de bla de bla..... have been reading some of the other blogs today..... wow, very impressive how some people have got on so far.....

moving posts around

ok, so I managed to post the photo links but I would like them underneath my post, rather than above. please can someone tell me how to move them around the page? I have tried in the Edit posts section but I cant see a link that lets you change the order of the posts.....

slow on the up take

As my blog title suggests, I am good at wandering, and blonde (so a bit slow on the uptake hence the name of this post... :o)! ) I have been doing the weekly exercises, but then run out of time to actually post my comments here.... bla bla, excuses excuses..... let's just get on with it.....

So week 3...... Flickr...... I have used Flickr before to view photos from friends and family, but I must admit that I am not that comfortable with using it for my personal photos because of its wide access. I think its wonderful for travel photos, location photos, work photos etc, but I wouldnt want pics of my kids or house etc in the public domain as I am always a bit wary of the 'nutter' element out there..... call me cautious/paranoid but thats just me!!

is there someway you can restrict who views particular photos on Flickr??

Now for another question.... I would be really interested in finding out if there is some easy/secure system you can use to digitise and put old paper/35mm negative photos on the www.... I have hundreds of them but no time to scan them all in individually... does anyone know of anything like this??

the other thing that has really impressed me in my adventure into 2.0 is how some relatively small organisations are leading the way in using these technologies.... the Public Library of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County for example..... I am extremely impressed/in awe that a regional library network is blazing the way like it is. It also makes me wonder how they and others are doing this..... is it access to budget and other resources or is it because they have some key individuals who are driving forces behind the work they are doing.... e.g. would the Powerhouse be doing some or all of the interesting things that they are doing without Seb Chan (and his team) being the driving force??

gosh - see how easily I go a-wandering!.....

right-o, I better do some of the exercises that I am actually supposed to be doing!!

find an interesting image that you think illustrates one of our values (Equity of Access, Innovation & Engagement, Valuing People, Honour & Integrity or Energy & Teamwork). Include either a link to the image or a copy of the image itself in your blog posting.

I have chosen 2 light-hearted images to illustrate teamwork...... let's see if these links work......

finally registered!

I created my blog nearly 2 weeks ago, but have only just managed to register it.... I have been going through the Week 2 exercises and have been enjoying reading all the varied blogs that are linked, but just had not got around to registering it yet as I ran out of time while doing the week 2 exercises.
My challenge will be to stay on track with the tasks and not deviate off to read other things... I am hopeless for thinking "oooh that sounds interesting" and heading off in a different direction only to realise half an hour later that I have some how ended up looking at some random strangers holiday photos on flickr! (I started at the PHM blog, then via their new link to flickr commons and off I went!)
I am no stranger to blogging as I already read quite a few different blogs of people that write about my personal interests, one observation I have of blogs is that I am often amazed and amused at the way people use 'net speak' to get their message/opinion across..... it is often a totally different language to reading a book/newspaper or listening to the radio.
One of my regularly read blogs is the SMH travel blog - I will see if I can link it here: http://blogs.smh.com.au/travel/
bye for now.

this is a test to see whether this works or not.....
